This 1 x 1 concealed carry drill is a great way to train with limited ammo and make the most of out of your range outings.  The 1 x 1 drill allows you to work on shooting fundamentals and gun handling skills that are essential for surviving and winning gunfights.  It is important to make sure that every time you fire your weapon in training it is purposeful and mission focused.

You must have a structured plan that is designed to make incremental improvements in your tactical shooting skills.  You could be practicing for shooting competitions, home invasion defense or active shooter situations.  Whatever you are training for, make sure you preemptively identify your training goals and design each range session to help you get closer to achieving those goals.

The major benefit of the 1 x 1 drill is the ample amount of shooting fundamentals and gun handling skills you get to work on with each repetition, while firing only two rounds.  As you will see in the video, there are quite a few skills practiced in each shooting iteration that will improve your tactical efficiency and effectiveness.  With only one box of ammunition you can get 25 solid repetitions behind your gun and that is ensuring you are getting the most bang for your buck!

There is a quick highlight what fundamentals and skills you will be working on during the 1 x 1 drill:
    1. Draw from concealment, load your pistol and make ready.
    2. Perform a tactical reload and practice dry presentation.
    3. Reholster safely while working your reverse presentation.
    4. Rapid pistol deployment and accurate first shot on target.
    5. Emergency slidelock reload and accurate follow up shot.
    6. Practicing follow through and staying in the fight.

Following the steps above will count as one repetition.  In that repetition you have worked some very important gunfighting skills with only firing two rounds.  This is a great training drill that is both cost effective and practical for real world self defense shooting.  Assuming you are using one box of ammo and running this drill 25 times, focus on slow and smooth for your first 5 reps.  On the next 10 focus on gradually speeding up while maintaining accuracy and safety.  On your last 10 reps use a shot timer to record your first shot on target and your reload splits.  Try to beat your previous time while maintaining firearm safety at all times.
