Footwork is one of the most important, yet under-trained, aspects of weapon-based martial and combative arts.  From our experience over the years however, it seems that footwork is often one of the least trained and under-appreciated aspects of weapon-based fighting.   The importance of having a strong understanding of weapon-based footwork principles and integrating dynamic footwork drills into your training program cannot be under-emphasized.

In this video Instructor Stewart teaches Triangle Footwork while incorporating
Attack #1 from our Stick Fighting Attack System.  The Forward Triangle, also known as the female triangle in Filipino Martial Arts, consists of three points on the Star Footwork System (star center point, line #1 and Line #2).  There are three main footwork patterns for the Forward Triangle that we teach (switch step, two-step and bursting).  Each pattern creates various angles of footwork that allow you to work various stances, defensive options and ranges of combat.
