FULL BOX DRILL

The Full Box Drill is a partner-based stick fighting flow drill that teaches both offensive and defense impact weapon skills while incorporating dynamic movement, tactical mindset and weapon disarms.  It is worth pointing out that this is simply a drill and not stick sparring.  Drills are designed to practice and develop a specific set of tactical skills.  Flow drills not only focus on developing specific skills, but also seek to create a continuous, dynamic and fluid practice routine to help burn movement patterns into your subconscious.

The Full Box Drill is designed to teach you how to defend incoming attacks and launch your own attacks while also working on balance, footwork, movement, timing and understanding ranges of combat.   At the basic level you should be attempting just to understand how to effectively attack, defend and learn the flow of the drill.  At the advanced level you should focus on enhancing your attacks and defenses by utilizing footwork, angles, controlling range and disarming your opponent.

In this video Instructor Stewart will teach you fundamental principles, attack lines and defensive strategies of the full box stick fighting drill so you will have all the tools and skills necessary to practice the Full Box Drill live with a training partner.  It is important to fully understand these fundamentals prior to working the Full Box Drill so you are able to focus more on the dynamics and totality of the drill and less on the individual techniques involved during the drill.
