EDC PISTOL CLASSES

What is EDC

EDC Stands For Everyday Carry

(EDC) Everyday Carry represents the mindset and lifestyle of a person who chooses to carry personal defense weapons and useful utility gear as part a normal daily routine.  EDC is not paranoia, it's preparedness.  It's the intentional act of carrying specific tactical and medical gear on an everyday basis that could be used to protect innocent lives, respond to unexpected emergencies and defend against violent criminals.

The EDC lifestyle is a proactive, rather than reactive, approach to staying safe, defending yourself and protecting those you love.  Sign up for our next EDC Handgun course to work with our professional firearms coaches who will guide you through the most effective ways to carry your handgun on a daily basis, to rapidly draw and deploy your handgun in response to extreme violence, and to develop a training routine for you to continue training and practicing on your own.

1— CLASS PREREQUISITES
THERE ARE FOUR CLASS REQUIREMENTS:

1 — TRAINING & PARTICIPATION WAIVER
To participate in this course you'll be required to complete a Training & Participation Waiver.  The link to this waiver will be included in your email receipt/confirmation after registering for this course. *Make sure you enter a valid email during the checkout process*.

2 — INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
To participate in this course you will be required to verify that you are legally allowed to own, handle and use firearms.  You must also verify you have no violent criminal background.  You must watch this video on the Firearm Safety rules and abide by them at all times.

3 — BACKGROUND CHECK
To participate in this course we will run a background check on every student to ensure the safety and security of the group.  You will be required to submit your Full Name, DOB, Home Address & Drivers License Number.

4 — PREREQUISITES
To participate in this course you must have prior Firearms Training experience. For Level One you will need a CCW permit and/or approved Firearms Training Course.  For Level Two you must complete EDC Level one and have an active CCW permit.
2— GEAR / AMMO REQUIREMENTS
GEAR REQUIREMENTS:

1 — HANDGUN
You will need a Modern Semi-Automatic Handgun for this course.  We suggest semi-automatic pistols and not revolvers for this course.  Revolvers are not ideal for Dry-Fire practice and Live Fire training drills that require substantial round counts and magazine changes.

2 — MAGAZINES
You will need at least 2-3 magazines for this course.  If your magazines hold 7/8 rounds or less we suggest bringing 4 to 5 magazines.

3 — HOLSTERS
You will need a OTW or IWB handgun holster for this course.  If you carry concealed make sure you bring your EDC holster or setup to practice from.  Blackhawk Serpa holsters are not allowed.  If you use Magazine Carriers (i.e. NeoMag, SnagMag, IWB Kydex, etc) make sure you bring those so you can practice with them as well.

4 — AMMUNITION
You will need approximately 250-350 rounds of ammunition.  Bring 1 box of any hollow point self-defense ammunition you typically carry in your firearm.

5 — SAFETY GEAR
You will need a pair of ballistic rated Eye Protection (ANSI 287.1-2003 High Impact Requirement) and a pair of Electronic Hearing Protection.  Electronic hearing protection is required so you will be able to hear instruction and coaching during live fire drills and training.

5 — CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES
Dress as you would normally.  Don't dress different or more 'tactical' for this class.  Our focus is to teach you how to carry, conceal and deploy you firearm in real world scenarios.  This means you dress like you do on an everyday basis.  Wear closed-toed shoes.  Bring a hat and sunscreen.  Bring a notepad and pen for note taking.  Bring a hand towel or shemagh.  Bring plenty of water and a few easy to access snacks.  Check the weather forecast for the day and dress accordingly.

4— RANGE ETIQUETTE / SAFETY
RANGE ETIQUETTE

1 — RANGE ETIQUETTE
Watch this video on range safety protocol.

Keep all weapons empty, always pointed in a safe direction and fingers off triggers when approaching the range and loading station.  Tables will be set up as a designated loading station.

Do not load live ammunition into any firearm until instructed to do so by the instructor. Do not point your firearm at yourself, other students or the instructors. This rule stands regardless of whether your firearm is loaded or not. Until you are on the firing line and have received instructions to fire, keep your finger outside the trigger guard and off the trigger at all times.

Neglecting any safety rules can get you disqualified and ejected from the range. If your behavior is deemed unsafe you will be asked to leave the range.
5— RANGE INFORMATION
TRAINING LOCATION & DETAILS

1 — Training Location
Training location is subject to change.  Unless stated otherwise the training location will be the The Range @ True North Firearm Center.  Please check email correspondence with our team prior to your training date for final training location details and arrival/parking protocols.
