Dot Torture Drill

Use the Dot Torture Drill to enhance your shooting skills and fundamentals.  This drill will be difficult at first and will provide you with a true measure of your current skill level.  Precise sighting and smooth trigger presses are a few key areas you must focus on if you intend on successfully cleaning the dot torture drill.

The Dot Torture Drill is meant to be shot from the 3 yard line.  If you are unable to clean the drill (100% Hits) in 3 tries from the 3 yard line I would suggest you move up to the 1 or 1 yard line until you can successfully clean the drill.  Once you are able to clean the dot torture drill cold (without warming up) move back to the 5 yard line and work to clean the drill from there as well.

You can use completion time as another area of skill assessment and progression with the Dot Torture Drill.  On the downloadable target pack there is an area to enter a completion time.  Once you are able to clean the drill from a particular distance start recording your times and attempt to beat your previous records.

A note on trigger reset as it was discussed in the video. I mention Trigger Reset in the video when talking about transitioning from circle 3 and 4. Specifically I was working with a client having trouble transitioning accurately from 3 to 4. I had them draw + shoot 3, keep the trigger back, transition their sights to 4, reset the trigger and then fire.  The ideal trigger reset timing would be to reset the trigger during the recoil.   If skills and accuracy allow it, I'd prefer to draw + shoot 3 and reset the trigger in the recoil, then transition to 4 with the trigger reset and all the slack out of the trigger. When the sights hit the 4 press and shoot.
